Skoda is slated to bring three new all-electric models before 2030

Back in June 2021, Skoda Auto’s CEO, Thomas Schäfer announced that as part of its future 2030 roadmap, the carmaker will be introducing three new all-electric vehicles to its lineup. Now, at Skoda’s annual press conference, the carmaker has given a few more details on that strategy, and more importantly, announced a new ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy.

As part of the announcement, we also got a teaser image of what to expect in the form of what looks like a crossover concept. And it seems to be holding to its word, with the ‘modern’ bit being  a vertical LED strip for DRLs, while the ‘solid’ factor seems to translate into the body proportions. The closed-off front grille seems to denote its EV credentials.

As for the three new EVs that are on the way, all three will slot below the Enyaq iV when it comes to dimensions and pricing. Also, CEO, Thomas Schäfer confirmed that one of them will be an entry-level city car. The carmaker also didn’t rule out the Octavia getting the all-electric treatment, but reiterated their current focus on these new electric vehicles.

So what does this mean for Skoda’s India operations? Well nothing on the EV front, considering the carmaker recently launched the Slavia sedan. That being said, Skoda is slated to have a busy 2022 with new variants for the Kushaq, Octavia, and Superb possibly in the works.
