Mahindra is back in the electric game with the new XUV400 EV, which has begun reaching its early-bird buyers in March. On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, the carmaker announced that over 400 units of the electric SUV have already been delivered.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: Multiple battery options 

The XUV400 EV is offered in EC and EL variants. The EC, or standard-range variant, has a 34.5kWh battery pack, good for up to 375km of range. The longer-range EL variant has a 39.4kWh battery, claimed to deliver up to 456km of range. Irrespective of the variant, the XUV400 EV comes with a 150PS and 310Nm e-motor that provides enough power to get the SUV from nought to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds. 

Mahindra has begun the deliveries with the long-range variants first; the EC variants are scheduled to start reaching customers around the festive season in October. 

Other specs and features 

The XUV400 EV gets equipment such as a manual AC with electronic controls, electric sunroof, seven-inch touchscreen and push-button start-stop. The safety kit includes six airbags, stability control, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.

Mahindra’s XUV400 EV has started reaching customers, but with thousands of orders received,it’ll be several months before all the pre-launch deliveries are completed. The e-SUV carries an introductory price of Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Its primary rival is the Tata Nexon EV, and the XUV400 provides a more affordable alternative to the MG ZS EV and similarly-specced Hyundai Kona Electric.
