With the EV trend gradually gaining momentum among car buyers, this year we saw launches from mass market carmakers to luxury ones. These new EV launches covered both the SUV and sedan segments, some focussed on performance and most promising a plush experience. Lotus Eletre

Lotus Eletre Electric SUV

Lotus made its debut in India with the launch of the fully electric Eletre SUV, priced between Rs 2.55 crore and Rs 2.99 crore (ex-showroom). The Eletre is offered in three broad variants and is powered by dual electric motors paired with a 112 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 600 km. Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

In 2023, Mercedes-Benz introduced its second electric SUV, the EQE, to the Indian market. Available as a completely built-up unit (CBU), it is offered with a 90.6 kWh battery pack with a WLTP-claimed range of 550 km. In terms of features you get a triple screen layout for the digital driver’s display, infotainment system, and a dedicated 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. BMW iX1

BMW launched its most affordable EV in the Indian market, the iX1, in 2023. It is based on the new X1 SUV that was launched earlier in the year and features a similar design. Inside, it gets a dual floating display with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.7-inch infotainment system. The iX1 is powered by dual electric motors that put out 313 PS and 494 Nm, with a WLTP-claimed range of 440 km. Click here to know more details about it.

BMW i7

This year, we also saw the launch of BMW’s flagship electric offering in India, the i7. It is also the most powerful fully electric offering from the Bavarian brand, equipped with two electric motors, delivering 660 PS and 1100 Nm. Audi Q8 e-tron

Audi gave a facelift to the e-tron in 2023 with a new name, the Q8 e-tron. It is offered in two body styles here: SUV and sportback. New to the Q8 e-tron is an updated front grille with Matrix LED headlights, new alloy wheels, and larger battery packs offered with its two variants. Volvo C40 Recharge

Volvo launched the C40 Recharge, offering it as a feature-rich package under a crore rupees. The C40 Recharge is a SUV-coupe alternative to the XC40 Recharge and carries a premium of about Rs 4.35 lakh over it.
