It’s official! The world premiere of the Slavia, Skoda’s second model as part of its India 2.0 strategy, will happen on November 18, 2021. Prices of the Honda City-rivalling sedan, which will replace the long-in-the-tooth Rapid, will be announced in the first quarter of 2022.
Without further ado, here are five things to know about the Slavia:
Larger Than The Rapid

Skoda wasn’t kidding when it said the Slavia would be bigger than the Rapid. Take a look at the upcoming sedan’s dimensions side-by-side with the Rapid:

It’s safe to say that customers can expect better rear legroom and boot space. Interestingly, Skoda also asserts that the new Slavia is larger than the first-gen Octavia as well.
Powertrain And Chassis

Like the Kushaq, the Slavia will be based on the VW Group’s MQB-A0-IN platform. The sedan will be powered by 115PS 1-litre and 150PS 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine options. The latter makes headlines here for being the most powerful motor in its segment and offering segment-first cylinder deactivation tech, which shuts down two cylinders under light load for improved fuel economy.
Take a look at the detailed specifications:

Exterior Design

It’s difficult to tell the finer design elements of the Slavia since the sedan is still under wraps. That said, we can see Skoda’s large butterfly grille flanked by sleek headlamps (probably LED). The silhouette mimics that of the new Octavia, which is no bad thing. Speaking of which, the Slavia will be a proper three-box sedan and not a notchback, as speculated earlier.
Interior And Features

We have yet to see the Slavia’s cabin, but spy shots suggest it will borrow a few elements from the Kushaq. It will also come with a digital driver’s display, probably similar to the Taigun.
Other likely features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a six-speaker sound system with subwoofer.
Passenger safety should be taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
Expected Price And Rivals

The Skoda Slavia is likely to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same league as the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, and the upcoming Toyota Belta and VW Vento successor (Virtus).
