BMW F 450 R

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the BMW F 450 R, and is expected to be launched soon internationally. India launch is expected in 2027. Once launched, the bike will be the most affordable naked bike from the German bike maker.

Price: BMW is yet to announce the price of the F 450 R. But we can expect it to be priced around Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design: The BMW F 450 R looks sharp and aggressive, with a stacked twin-pod LED headlight featuring a V-shaped design. The pointy tank extensions, exposed frame and sub-frame give it a proper naked-bike appeal, while the underbelly exhaust elevates its sporty look.

Features: The BMW F 450 R gets a 6.5-inch TFT display with connected features such as navigation, music controls and call/SMS alerts. It also gets LED lighting, a USB-C charging port and heated grips. The bike comes with Rain, Road and Dynamic riding modes, which alter the power delivery and how the bike responds to rider inputs. The M Sport variants get Riding Modes Pro with an additional Dynamic Pro mode. Other electronic features include Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR) and switchable dual-channel ABS. The optional Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) can automatically operate the clutch depending on engine speed, while the reversible gear lever can be switched to a GP shift pattern for track riding.

Engine: The BMW F 450 R is powered by a 420 cc parallel-twin engine making 48 PS at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The motor is paired to a six-speed gearbox. The bike gets a bidirectional quickshifter on the higher variants.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm KYB inverted fork at the front and a KYB monoshock mounted to an aluminium double-sided swingarm at the rear. The optional Sport Suspension adds full adjustability to the fork, while the rear shock gets adjustable preload and rebound damping. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch cast-aluminium alloy wheels, shod with 110-section front and 150-section rear tyres. Braking hardware includes a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc with a ByBre single-piston caliper. The standard seat height is 790 mm. BMW will also offer optional seats that can lower the riding position by 15mm or raise it by 20mm.

Rivals: The BMW F 450 R will rival the Aprilia Tuono 457 and KTM 390 Duke R in India.
