Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was the guest of honour at the Mumbai leg of the Suzuki Gixxer Day tour last Sunday but, his mega personality notwithstanding, the cynosure of all eyes at the event was two time European stunt champion Aras Gibieza. The Lithuanian Red Bull athlete wowed the crowd and even Salman Khan with his repertoire of gravity-defying moves atop the Suzuki GSX-S1000 street bike. Even the actor, himself a biker, couldn’t resist the allure and the chants of the enthralled crowd and joined the fun on a Suzuki Gixxer SF later in the event.
The Mumbai leg of the Suzuki Gixxer Day event, held at the swanky Inorbit Mall in Malad, is part of a 9-city nationwide tour that kickstarted in Delhi on April 15 and will culminate on 15th May in Pune. The event serves as a gathering of Suzuki Gixxer owners and fans to celebrate the spirit of the popular 155cc motorcycle. It also celebrates Suzuki’s passion for motorcycling, and is a platform for enthusiasts to meet, explore their bikes and share their interests.

Winner of the Stunt Riding EuroCup, Aras has previously performed in India at Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune, Mangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi, Shillong, Guwahati, Kolkata and Hyderabad as a part of his tours last year.
Suzuki also used this year’s tour to show off a new variant of the Gixxer equipped with disc brakes at the rear. This variant, which we’ve already seen before, endows the already capable motorcycle with enhanced braking abilities, especially noteworthy in a country where a majority of the riders still use their rear brakes more than the front.

The Suzuki Gixxer is available with the rear disc brake as an option in the following colours – Lush Green / Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Triton Blue / Pearl Mirage White and Candy Sonoma Red / Glass Sparkle Black – and is priced at Rs. 84,817. The Gixxer SF will sport the rear disc brake as standard in the following colours - Pearl Mirage Red and Glass Sparkle Black – and is priced at Rs. 92,806, whereas the MotoGP Edition (Metallic Triton Blue) with rear disc brake will be priced at Rs. 94,394 (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
