American car manufacturer Ford has joyfully announced the dates for the launch of the iconic Mustang in India on 28th January, which is next week. The Ford Mustang has a long history and will soon have the sixth generation hitting the Indian shores. The sixth generation Ford Mustang made its global unveil back in December 2014. Although called a muscle car or a pony car back home, the Mustang will be launched in the coupe segment here where it will compete against the Audi TT and the BMW Z4.
The India-bound Ford Mustang will be the first of its kind to be built with right-hand drive setup. Being a CBU import, the Mustang is likely to borrow most of its features from the international variants. Internationally, the Mustang is offered with the drop-top version and the coupé. Ford will be bringing only the coupé variant to India.
The Ford Mustang is likely to be launched with two engine options under the hood. The base model is likely to receive a 2.3-litre EcoBoost motor incorporating an advanced direct fuel injection system to produce 315PS of max power and 434Nm of torque. For power hungry car enthusiasts, Ford could also feature a powerful 5.0-litre V8 EcoBoost motor capable of churning out an impressive power output of 421PS and axle twisting torque of 524Nm. Both the powerplants will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox which will have pedal shifters mounted on steering wheel to shift gears manually.
We expect Ford to launch its flagship model Mustang in India with a sticker price of Rs 45 lakh mark for the base model and Rs 55-60 lakh price bracket for the larger displacement variant. Ford will also be having on display the iconic Mustang at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo held in February.
