The first product from the Toyota-Maruti Suzuki collaboration, the Glanza, is all set to be launched tomorrow. The all-important prices will be revealed tomorrow, but we know most of the details about the hatchback and here’s what you can expect.

The Glanza is basically Toyota’s version of the Baleno and is essentially the same car, save for some badges and other bits. This goes without saying, but the Glanza is also made alongside the Baleno at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Manesar. We wish Toyota had made some more changes and given the Glanza its own character though.

Both the cars are so similar that the differences between them comes down to these - a revised front grille and badge, and different monikers on the boot. Apart from these, the Glanza will come with a 3 year/ 1 lakh km warranty as standard, while Maruti offers a 2 year/40,000km warranty for the Baleno.

According to the leaked brochure, the Glanza will be available in two variants - G and V.  Under the hood will be the same set of 1.2-litre petrol engines seen on the Baleno. Toyota will be offering the new mild-hybrid powertrain that makes 90PS and 113Nm in the base-spec G variant. The standard 1.2-litre engine that produces  83PS and 113Nm will be offered on the top-spec V variant. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The Glanza will not be available with a diesel engine, unlike the Baleno.

As for the features, the Glanza will come with a 7-inch smart playcast ( Baleno’s smartplay) which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto folding mirrors, steering mounted audio controls, and  LED projector headlamps with light guide. It will also come with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with camera.

The Glanza is entering a segment which is shared by the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Volkswagen Polo. As for the pricing, it is expected to carry a small premium over the Baleno. Stay tuned for more updates once the hatchback is launched tomorrow.
