Longer Battery Warranties On Offer For The Toyota Camry And Vellfire

Those who have bought the Camry or Vellfire after January 2019 can avail of a special offer price for the extended warranty

 

  • Battery warranty is extended from 3 years/1 lakh kilometres to 8 years/1.6 lakh kilometres.

  • The Camry Hybrid is priced at Rs 40.59 lakh, with the Vellfire retailing at Rs 90 lakh.

  • The Camry rivals the Skoda Superb, while the Vellfire takes on the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

In order to accelerate the adoption of electrified vehicles, Toyota India is giving its self-charging hybrid models, the Camry and the Vellfire, a longer battery warranty package. This will come into effect for all new hybrids sold from August 1,2021.



The battery warranty packages on both hybrid models will last up to 8 years/1.6 lakh kilometres (whichever comes earlier). The current package lasts for a period of up to 3 years/ 1 lakh kilometres. What’s more, those that have bought these models after January 2019 can avail of this extended warranty at a special offer price. 

 

In the Camry, the hybrid powertrain setup comprises a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired to a CVT gearbox, along with an electric motor that makes a combined 218PS power. It’s capable of self-charging tech, driving in pure EV or pure ICE mode or a hybrid mode. As for fuel economy, Toyota claims a figure of 23.87kmpl.

The Vellfire luxury MPV combines a 115PS 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with a CVT gearbox, along with two electric motors that sit at either axle and produce 142PS (front) and 68PS (rear). The self-charging battery pack replenishes itself during deceleration and braking, and contributes to a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.35kmpl. 

 

Toyota retails the Camry at Rs 40.59 lakh, with the Vellfire garnering a price tag of Rs 90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).  The Camry only has the Skoda Superb to contend with in India, with the Vellfire taking on the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
