While its not the outright hardcore i20 N, there are a variety of changes

The third-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback was already quite a step up from before, courtesy of a more aggressive design philosophy. But Hyundai India will be offering the sportier and performance-focused ‘N’ range trims, already sold in markets abroad. In India, it’ll start with the i20 N Line trim, which is set to debut on August 24, 2021. The i20 N Line trim may be a step below the hardcore ‘N’, but it will have a variety of sportier differences over the standard i20 if we refer to the Euro-spec model. Here’s all of them in detail:

Beefy Front End

Starting up front, the bumper is now a touch sportier with a more prominent fog lamp housing connected via a low running bar. The front cascading grille is new too with a funky mesh design that mimics a chequered flag.

New Wheels

What’s a sportier trim without a new set of wheels? Well, that i20 N Line gets just that with the 17-inch wheels sporting a unique dual-tone design.

Sportier Rear

While the standard i20’s rear looks rather conventional, the N Line puts it closer to the hot hatch realm with a beefed-up bumper that features contrasting red accents and black trim on the lower portion.

Proper Mufflers

To complement the hot hatch-like rear end, the i20 N Line gets a proper chrome twin-exhaust muffler setup. It's certainly a step up from the muffler that is hidden within the rear end on the standard model.

Subtle Cabin Tweaks

Compared to the outside, though, the cabin tweaks are minimal at best with metal pedals, N Line badging all over and red accents. Otherwise, the i20 N Line is virtually identical to the standard model in features.

Under The Hood

The Euro-spec model retains the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1-litre petrol engines as the standard model, but the suspension, engine response and exhaust note have been retuned. The India-spec model will have the same 1-litre turbo-petrol engine as well as the iMT and DCT gearbox options as the standard i20. That being said, we expect the same performance tweaks from the Euro-spec i20 N Line to carry forward for the India model.

An RTO document released earlier revealed it’ll be offered in two variants, N6 and N8.Expect it to garner a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the top-spec standard model that retails at Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The i20 N Line will go up against the Volkswagen Polo GT in the Indian market.
