MG Motors has finally launched the ZS EV in India at prices starting from Rs 20.88 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in two variants: Excite and Exclusive. The SUV is currently available across five cities: Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. With the SUV boasting futuristic technology, it is an immediate threat to the Hyundai Kona, the only other electric SUV on sale in India. But which one stands out? We put the brochures of the two SUV under the microscope to see which one has an edge on paper.

Urban SUVs are more about their size and road presence than anything else. And in that battle,  the MG ZS EV easily trumps the Kona Electric. The ZS EV is clearly bigger and has a more imposing road presence. However, the Kona Electric gains ground with a 21 mm longer wheelbase than its British counterpart.

The MG ZS EV trumps the Kona in terms of power and battery capacity. It is also 1.2 seconds quicker to 100kmph. However, all this power comes at a cost as the MG SUV has a lower claimed range than the Hyundai Kona Electric.

 Features 

Both SUVs share plenty of features, including a sunroof, smart key, a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a leather wrapped steering wheel as well as electronically adjustable driver seats. However, the MG packs i-SMART connected car technology as well as a PM 2.5 AC air filter.

The Kona Electric, on the other hand, gets heated and ventilated seats, Bluetooth connectivity with voice control as well as dual-zone climate control. It also gets virtual engine sound system which, at low speeds, emits an engine sound to alert pedestrians as well as the visually challenged.
