  • Prices for the MG ZS EV are expected to be in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Motor India (Morris Garages) seems to have readied the ZS EV, its second product for India. And if you have been waiting for the all-electric SUV from the British automotive marque, we have some good news. The carmaker is all set to take the wraps off the model on December 5, 2019, before its official launch at the Auto Expo 2020. MG Motor India is also working to ensure that its charging infrastructure is in place. The carmaker has already set up charging locations at five metro cities: Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. These are the five cities that the ZS EV is likely to be available first, followed by a petrol and a hybrid variant

Powering the ZS EV is an all-electric motor that develops 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The motor draws power from a 45.2 kWh battery pack and the SUV has an NEDC range of 428km. The battery pack supports fast charging and can juice up from 0-80 per cent in 30 minutes dead.

The ZS EV comes loaded with features to take on its primary rival, the Kona Electric. Highlights include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a single-zone climate control, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, steering-mounted audio controls as well as a multi-info display. Being an MG, we expect the i-SMART connected car tech to be present in the ZS EV as well.

The ZS also gets two petrol internal combustion engines: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol hybrid and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated NA petrol. The turbo-petrol unit develops 111PS and 160Nm while the NA petrol churns out 106PS and 141Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed automatic for the hybrid while the NA petrol can be had only with a 6-speed manual.
