In India Mercedes-Benz has already taken the top spot in the luxury car market, but the company has similar growth plans globally too. As part of its Mercedes-Benz 2020 strategy, the company started production at its new facility in Brazil. Following a short ceremony attended by the who’s who of the industry, the site at Iracemápolis in the Sao Paulo was officially opened. The first vehicle to roll off the production line was a black C-Class Saloon.
Mercedes-Benz India played a key role in the company step towards achieving its growth strategy. The Brazilian workforce was brought to the Chakan facility near Pune to familiarise them with the production process.
Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “It’s a matter of immense pride for us that Mercedes-Benz India was chosen to train the Brazilian colleagues and familiarize them with the production process, towads setting up the new assembly plant in Iracemápolis. Our contribution in training the Brazilian colleagues also strongly underscores our prowess and rich experience in local production of luxury cars, which we have pioneered 20 years back in India.”
This isn’t the first time Mercedes-Benz’s India division has played bog brother for to further its global plans having supported the plant in Vietnam. Mercedes-Benz India’s training for the Brazilian workforce focused on product quality and production process and at the same time focusing on its core philosophy of ‘Doing it right the first time’. The briefing also focused various processes of the production line including quality, body shop, paint shop et al.
In order to maintain the international standards that Mercedes-Benz is globally known for, the production and planning team in Brazil has constantly been interacting with the Indian counterparts to share experiences for the execution of their facility and smooth start-up.
