Mahindra has launched the BS6-compliant KUV100 in India. The micro-SUV will be 6-seater only, powered by a single 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Dealerships had begun taking bookings prior to the nationwide coronavirus lockdown. While the KUV100 NXT was expected to carry a Rs 18,000 premium before launch, Mahindra has priced it Rs 22,000 higher. The micro-SUV hatchback rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ignis in India.

The Mahindra KUV100 now costs between Rs 5.54 lakh and Rs 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Each of the four variants cost Rs 22,000 higher than their BS4 counterparts.

While the BS4 KUV100 NXT was available in a total of eight variants, the petrol-only KUV100 comes in four: K2+, K4+, K6+, and K8. The idle start-stop system is exclusive to the top-spec K8 trim level.

Under the bonnet, the BS6 engine is an updated form of the 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 engine. It continues to be rated at 82PS of power and 115Nm of torque, although the claimed fuel economy may change slightly after the BS6 updates. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as before. The 78PS 1.2-litre diesel engine hasn't been updates to meet BS6 emission norms.

Mahindra has simplified the KUV100 range with the new changes. Spy shots tell us that the KUV100 will continue to have a Trip variant equipped with CNG for fleet buyers.
