The Langen 250 is a limited edition bespoke motorcycle that comes adorned with 24-carat gold detailing

Manchester-based Langen Motorcycles has finally passed the homologation tests for its 250cc two-stroke marvel. The Langen 250 has been under development for over two years and the startup is finally ready to treat the United Kingdom with a thoroughly modern two-stroke cafe racer.

If just the idea of having a road-legal two-stroke machine in this era isn’t ecstatic enough, the Langen 250 will leave you smitten with the technical intricacies. For starters, the 250cc V-twin engine is entirely constructed with CNC machined parts, complete with counter-rotating shafts and removable gearbox. This engine is sourced from Italian company Vins, famed for its two-stroke track machines. It belts out an astounding 76PS at 11,500rpm and 40Nm at 11,700rpm. To put that into perspective, the KTM 250 Duke’s motor is rated at 29.91PS and 24Nm. And to answer the most important question, yes, you wouldn’t be robbed of the sensory joys of a two-stroke engine.

This glorious engine is cradled in a tubular aluminum space frame and is suspended onto fully-adjustable 43mm Ohins RWU fork and twin bespoke KTech shocks. Braking equipment consists of twin 300mm Brembo discs up front and a 265mm disc at the rear, clamped by UK’s HEL Performance-sourced radial billet calipers.

Langen has pulled out all the stops to make the bike an absolute hoot to ride. With the absolute cracker of an engine and an equally impressive hardware, the brand has used carbon fibre extensively to keep the weight in check. In fact, at 114kg, it is lighter than many 100cc commuters in India, while packing 10 times the power. And as if the carbon fibre bodywork wasn’t enough, Langen Motorcycles thought 24-carat gold leaf would add the perfect finishing touch to the bodywork and the chassis. But then again, with just 100 units to go on sale, this would certainly give more bragging rights.

The Langen 250 is open for reservation at GBP 1,000 (Rs 1 lakh), and has been priced at GBP 28,000 (Rs 28.7 lakh) excluding taxes. Each bike will be customised as per the buyer’s liking. And if this crotch rocket had you swooning with its performance and looks, you are in for a heartbreak, since Langen has only homologated the bike for the United Kingdom.
