The Kolkata Police has recently acquired five Harley-Davidson Street 750s for its bike fleet. These bikes made an appearance on August 15 during the Independence Day procession, leading a convoy of VIP guests and replacing its red Royal Enfield bikes.

These bikes have been customised as per the needs of the Kolkata police force. The stock black bike gets the Kolkata Police insignia on the headlamp cowl with a chequered livery on the body panels. The bikes get a crash guard on which police lights and sirens are mounted. The bike also gets panniers and a rear seat cowl.

The Street 750 is the most affordable Harley cruiser on sale in India. The bike comes with a 750cc liquid-cooled V-twin that delivers 59Nm of torque at 3750rom and should be able to reach close to 200kmph with ease. The bike retails at Rs 5,89,528 (on-road, Kolkata).

The bikes are intended to be used for VIP movement and police functions for now. Incidentally, Kolkata is not the first state to induct Harley-Davidson bikes into its fleet. In 2015, the Gujrat police force had acquired six Street 750 motorcycles.
