Top 5 Car News Of The Week: Hyundai Venue Launch, EcoSport Thunder, Kia SP2 Interiors And More

While the major highlight of the week was the 2019 Lok Sabha election results, the automotive space also had its most awaited launch of the year - the Hyundai Venue. With aggressive pricing, urban SUV looks and segment topping features, the Venue is turning out to be a threat in the sub-4 metre SUV rumble. Kia too decided to tease the interiors of their upcoming SUV - the SP2i. With a large floating touchscreen and clean interior finish, the SUV is sure looking to offer a premium experience inside the cabin. We also saw some pictures of the upcoming Ford EcoSport Thunder edition, the Skoda Superb facelift was unveiled and we finally have the reveal date for the Renault Triber.

Hyundai Venue is here!

The Hyundai Venue has made a grand entry in the sub-4 metre SUV segment. With prices starting from Rs 6.5 lakh, the Venue is one of the most affordable SUV amongst its rivals.It is available in 5 variants namely E, S, SX, SX+ SX (O) and with 3 engine options. The petrol lineup includes a 1.2-litre engine which is available only with the E and S variant and a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine which is available from the S variant onwards. The petrol automatic option is available only with the 1.0-litre engine in the S and SX+ variant. The diesel is a 1.4-litre unit available across the range with only a manual transmission. Kia SUV interior sketches revealed

After giving us a glimpse of the exteriors of the SP2i, Kia has now released some design sketches of the interior of the car and it sure looks premium. The design looks very clean along with a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the top of the dashboard. It gets a dual-tone dashboard which will get faux wooden inserts and brushed aluminium elements to make the cabin look premium. Another key reveal in the sketches was Kia’s Sound mood lighting, which the occupants can change according to their preferences. Have a look at them here. 

Ford EcoSport Thunder edition spotted

Ford has decided to make the EcoSport range more price competitive by the means of launching a new Thunder Edition. It will be available on multiple variants of the EcoSport and will come with black decals all around, new wheels and other minor cosmetic changes. The biggest change, however, will be inside the car. The Thunder Edition will get a new beige upholstery along with a new dual-tone dashboard. The S variant, however, will get an orange-black upholstery along with contrast stitching and elements on the dashboard. Launch timeline and expected prices here. 

Renault Triber global unveil on June 19

Renault’s upcoming premium hatchback, the Triber, is going to be a very unique offering in the segment. With the global unveil set to happen on June 19, Renault is calling it the Triber a ‘Super Spacious’ and ‘Ultra Modular’ vehicle. The Triber will most likely feature a folding third row of seats which can be removed from the vehicle when not required to open up boot space. It will likely compete against the likes of the Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai i20, which offering the modular layout as its USP. It is based on a new platform and will feature a tall-boy stance. Skoda Superb facelift comes with a greener heart

The Skoda Superb facelift was unveiled earlier this week and it comes as Skoda’s first plug-in hybrid. Called the Superb iV, this is the current-gen Superb’s first major update since it was first introduced globally in 2015. It packs a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine working in sync with an 85kW electric motor which together produces 218PS of power. You can run the new Superb on pure electric mode as well in which case you will have 55km of range. However, if you make use of the IC engine as well, the total range becomes 850km.
