Husqvarna had showcased the production version of the Vitpilen 701 and Svartpilen 701 concept during last year’s EICMA. For this year, they have revealed the production version of the Svartpilen 701 that will hit dealership floors by early 2019. The Svartpilen 701, in production trim, gets few changes from last years’ outrageous concept.

In terms of design, the Svartpilen 701 looks different from the Vitpilen 701 cafe racer. The flat tracker gets a raised handlebar instead of clip-ons, and an instrument console that’s angled towards the rider. The tail section on the Svartpilen looks like a flat tracker, with a narrow single seat and side-mounted competition number panel. The air filter mounted below the seat also gets a neat looking cover. Fuel tank capacity is 12 litres. Features include a LED headlamp that stays true to the concepts design and a circular all digital instrument console.

The Svartpilen 701 shares its 692.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor with the KTM Duke 690 though it makes 1.4PS more power and 2Nm less torque. Power output is rated at 74.78PS while peak torque figure stands at 72Nm at 6750rpm. This motor gets ride-by-wire, a slipper clutch and traction control.

Underpinned by a trellis frame, it gets 43mm WP upside down forks at the front and a WP rear monoshock, both fully adjustable. Braking is via 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes. You also get switchable ABS as standard. Its 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels come shod with Pirelli MT60RS tyres.

As tempting as they look, do not expect the Svartpilen 701 or Vitpilen 701 in our showrooms anytime soon. Instead, the smaller Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 will be coming to our shores next year.
