Japanese carmaker Honda has sold 200,000 units of its compact sedan Amaze in India. The car was launched in April 2013 and was the first Honda product in the Indian market to come with a diesel engine.

The diesel variants are powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine which produces 100PS of power along with 200Nm of torque. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit which churns out 88PS of power along with 109Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol unit also comes mated to a CVT (continuous variable transmission) gearbox and has been tuned to produce 90PS of power along with 110Nm of torque.

Talking about Amaze’s success, Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India Limited, said, “Honda Amaze has established itself as a very successful entry sedan in the Indian market. During the span of 3 years, it has achieved sales milestone of 200,000 units bringing new customers into Honda fold. The car has been extremely popular in both big and smaller cities due to its strong value offering and Honda’s core strengths of quality, durability and reliability. We are extremely thankful to all our customers for their continuous support and faith in the brand.”

Honda updated the Amaze compact sedan earlier this year and the car received some cosmetic changes which include a new front grille and redesigned front bumper along with updated interiors to name a few. Read more about it here.
