In recent times, the automotive industry has been blessed with hypercar manufacturers that are constantly looking to outdo the others by building the fastest car in the world. The latest to join the party is the long-awaited Hennessey Venom F5 which has just been unveiled.

Coming down to the juicy bits, the Venom F5 will be powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V8 dubbed the  ‘Fury’. It certainly lives up to the name, developing a bonkers 1817PS of grunt and 1617Nm of twist. What’s more, at 1,360kg, it’s quite lightweight, which helps it achieve a bonkers power-to-weight ratio of 1.34 hp per kg.

Combined with a 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive, the carmaker claims some insane performance feats. The Venom F5 is claimed to hit 0-100kmph in just 2.6 seconds. Top speed? Well, it's targeted to go over 500kmph (311mph). If true, that would very much surpass the hypercar benchmark set by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+.

Top speed claims aside, the lightweight nature of the Venom F5 is helped by a 86kg carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and carbon-fibre body panels. It also gets five drive modes: Sport, Track, Drag, Wet, and the F5, which gives the hypercar maximum power. It's also fairly driver-focused with driver aids such as traction control and limited ESP.

On the outside, the Venom F5 is certainly poster-worthy with a clean silhouette, a quad exhaust setup, and a massive diffuser at the rear. The body is also fairly aero efficient with a drag coefficient of 0.39. Keeping the Venom F5 on the ground are Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tyres, wrapped around 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels. A ’Track Pack’ adds in a front splitter and a rear wing.

The cabin is also driver-focused, with a race car-inspired steering wheel, and a minimalistic dashboard consisting of a 7-inch driver display and a 9-inch Alpine touchscreen infotainment system.

Exclusivity is the name of the game, as only 24 units will be produced, with each unit costing a sky-high USD 2.1million (Rs 15.42 crore). Deliveries are set to begin next year. Can Hennessey’s latest contraption take the hypercar crown? It’s only a matter of time before the Venom F5 is put to the test, and we can’t wait for that to happen!
