Skoda India is all set to launch the BS6-compliant Rapid TSI in the country on May 26. For the first time, Skoda will offer the Rapid with a turbo-petrol engine here in India. The carmaker will discontinue the existing 1.5-litre TDI and 1.6-litre MPI powertrains in the Rapid lineup. Here are five things that are new in the upcoming sedan.
The Main Change:

The main change lies under the hood. The Rapid will now be offered with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that develops 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque. This engine will replace the existing 1.5-litre TDI diesel and 1.6-litre MPI petrol motors in the Rapid’s lineup.
New Transmission:

Along with the updated engine, Skoda India will offer the Rapid with a 6-speed manual transmission. And if you’ve been wanting an automatic transmission, the Rapid TSI will be offered with a 6-speed torque converter at a later stage rather than the quick shifting 7-speed DSG.
Any New Features:

The 2020 Rapid’s feature list will most likely be identical to the BS4 model. Highlights include a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, cruise control, a multi-info display, keyless entry as well as an auto-dimming IRVM. On the safety front, the Rapid comes with four airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera.
Variants and Colour Choices:

The Skoda Rapid TSI will be offered in a total of five variants: Active, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. All variants come with different colour options. You can have a more detailed look at them right here.
Expected Price And Rivals:

The Skoda Rapid TSI is expected to start from Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the VW Vento BS6, Hyundai Verna facelift, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming Honda City 2020.
