1955 FIAT 1100-103 MILLICENTO

One of the best things which happened at the 2011 edition of the Cartier Travel with Style Concours was the advent of the Indian Heritage class. This category takes in all cars built and/or assembled in India from 1947 till 1960 and this is something which many other Indian events should emulate, if only to see what were ordinary bangers then, to be restored to their former glory and conserve a stream of vehicles which got the country moving after independence. 

Hindustans, Standards, Fiats, Dodge and Chrysler cars made up this first time category and it was quite right that this superb example of the Fiat Millicento (chassis no. 214231) owned by Owais Mohsin Kidwai should bag top honours in class. Kidwai acquired this car in 2000 and slowly but steadily kept on refurbishing it to original condition using genuine parts sourced from all over the country. No wonder his efforts paid off massively.
