A flurry of season openers made up the last seven days in motorsports

This past week saw no dearth of racing in both the international and domestic arenas. It ranged from the season openers for the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship, Formula Regional Asian Championship and Formula 4 UAE, to the third round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship. Here are all the deets from the last seven days.

WRC

The 2022 FIA World Rally Championship certainly served up a tasty season opener at Rallye Monte Carlo with a titanic scrap between nine-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb (M-Sport Ford), and eight-time champion Sebastien Ogier (Toyota Gazoo Racing). In the end it was the former who came out on top, and the margins would’ve been extremely close had Ogier not received a time penalty for a jump start. The notable thing is that both WRC titans are only racing part time this season. Finishing in third place was Craig Breen in the other M-Sport Ford.

Formula Regional Asian Championship/Formula 4 UAE

Mumbai Falcons had a positive start in both the Formula Regional Asian Championship and Formula 4 UAE season openers at Abu Dhabi. Over the course of the weekend in Formula Regional Asia, there were multiple podium appearances from Sebastian Montoya and Arthur Leclerc which included the former taking a race win. For Sohil Shah it was a mixed bag of results in Formula 4 UAE with a couple of top ten finishes and a few tough races.

In the Volkswagen Polo Championship, it was Anmol Singh Sahil on the top step of the podium in the final race of the weekend.

Formula One
