After a gruelling 14 days covering 8375km, 4275km of which being special stages in some of the harshest off-road conditions, the Dakar 2022 rally came to a close. The final stage (Stage 12) had competitors travel from Bisha to Jeddah, spanning 680km, of which 164km comprised the special stage. Here’re those that came out on top over the course of 12 stages:
Hero MotoSports ended its Dakar 2022 campaign on a strong note with Joaquim Rodrigues finishing in 14th overall, with teammate Aaron Mare 16th in the final rankings. While Harith Noah was competing under the Dakar Experience category, he finished the final stage in 23rd place.
At the top of the bike category, Sam Sunderland (GasGas) eighth place finish was enough to take the overall title for the second time in his Dakar career. Joining him on the podium was Pablo Quitanilla (Monster Energy Honda) in second place, with Matthias Walkner (Red Bull KTM Racing) third overall.
In the cars category, Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Gazoo Racing) came out on top to seal his fourth Dakar crown ahead of Sebastien Loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) in second place. Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive Toyota) rounded off the cars category, ranking third overall.
