The Volkswagen (VW) Taigun compact SUV and Virtus sedan have got a minor feature rejig before receiving their price hikes in April. Both models now get features earlier offered in their high-end trims in low-end variants in the lineup, now.

In the Taigun, the carmaker has introduced auto headlamps with coming and leaving home function to the mid-spec Highline trim. It was previously relegated to the Topline trim. Plus, this feature has also been introduced in the GT trim with the 1.5-litre TSI engine. Recently, VW also introduced ventilated front seats in the flagship GT Plus trim of the compact SUV.

In contrast, the Virtus just gets one feature rejig. The rear fog lamps are now standard across the lineup.

Both models get the SAVWIPL Group’s 115PS, 1-litre and 150PS, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options. The 1-litre unit in both models and the 1.5-litre unit in the Taigun get a six-speed manual. On the other hand, automatic options include a six-speed torque converter for the smaller engine, while the larger unit gets the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both engines will soon be upgraded to meet RDE norms.

Currently, the Taigun is priced from Rs 11.56 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Virtus costs from Rs 11.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV locks horns with models such as Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara, while the sedan goes up against the 2023 Hyundai Verna and facelifted Honda City.
