i-SMART feature suite gets updated connected car, navigation and voice recognition features.
No mechanical changes expected for the improved Gloster.
Likely to be priced higher than the current Gloster that costs from Rs 31.5 lakh onwards.
MG has a new ‘Advanced Gloster’ in the works and the marque’s updated flagship SUV is set to break cover on August 31. The full-size SUV will get an updated i-Smart connected car system, new navigation system and more advanced voice recognition capabilities.
It’s expected to be launched soon and will likely be priced at a premium over the existing Gloster that retails from Rs 31.5 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

A new set of leaked images have given us a preview of the Advanced Gloster, and it seems to get minor exterior updates such as new alloy wheels and a new paint shade.

The Gloster’s i-Smart connected car suite gets an upgrade with over 75 features on offer. Using the app, you’ll be able to use your phone as a remote control to operate the car’s audio, air conditioning and ambient lighting systems. i-Smart 2.0 was already compatible with Apple watch, but the new system will work with Android watches as well.
As before, the voice recognition system controls over 100 features in the car such as the sunroof, music, navigation and climate control. With the update, it now understands more than 35 new Hinglish commands.

The updated navigation system, still backed by MapmyIndia, helps one discover restaurants, hotels, etc., using Dineout and Kogo in the Discover app. Another app called Park+ will help book and prepay for parking slots for the massive SUV. Additionally, the navigation app now provides live weather updates, including the air quality index. It already offers six-character doorstep-level navigation and house number search functions.

Similar to its predecessor, the new Advanced Gloster should also get features such as a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control and advanced driver assistance and active safety tech (ADAS).

Under the bonnet, the Advanced Gloster should get the same engine options as the existing model: a 163PS 2-litre turbodiesel and a 218PS 2-litre twin-turbo diesel unit. Both engines should be paired with an 8-speed automatic with a four-wheel drive (4WD) option available with the more powerful drivetrain.

The Advanced Gloster is expected to be a relatively small update that will not be accompanied by major aesthetic changes. The flagship MG SUV will continue to rival the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Skoda Kodiaq.
