You might have seen special edition supercars that are like collector items with their bespoke touches. Suzuki has tried to take a leaf out of that book with this Jimny Special Edition. Meet the Jimny Rhino Edition, a model that’s exclusively available in the Malaysian market and limited to just 30 units. So yeah, it’s safe to say that they have taken the exclusivity game to a whole new level.

Changes made to the Jimny Rhino are largely cosmetic. So it gets splashes of body decals on the hood and doors that make it look extra cool. They have also given a retro touch by replacing the standard grille with the traditional one boldly saying ‘SUZUKI’ on it. And lastly, it gets red mud flaps and Rhino decals on the spare wheel cover.

Suzuki has also made changes to improve the SUV’s protection, which will be useful while you’re doing extreme off-roading to spot some Rhinos. It gets a differential protector while the front skid plates are beefier for added protection. Even the side sills have been upgraded to offer protection from mild impacts, says Suzuki.

On the inside, the overall cabin layout and features are very identical to the model sold here. So it gets a dashboard design that focuses heavily on functionality rather than flamboyance. And even in terms of features, it’s largely similar to the India-spec model except that it gets a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. To take a closer look, head to our image gallery

No changes have been made underneath the hood. So it gets the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that’s paired with a 4-speed torque converter automatic. This engine gets four-wheel drive, and a low-range gearbox is also present to tackle difficult terrain. In India, the Maruti Suzuki is available only in a 5-door body style and is priced between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s a smaller alternative to the likes of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, both of which are currently 3-door models. It’s worth noting that 5-door iterations of both the SUVs are on the way.
