  • Next-gen Urban Cruise and Glanza facelift in the works.
  • Updates will be similar to the Maruti sibling, with the Toyotas getting unique touches.
  • Expected to launch a few months after its Maruti counterparts.

The Toyota Glanza premium hatchback and Urban Cruiser sub-compact SUV are set to get a facelift and generation update respectively. This development comes back after Maruti Suzuki is preparing the heavily updated Baleno and next-gen Vitara Brezza, both models which are shared with Toyota under its joint venture.

Both Toyotas are expected to go on sale once its Maruti siblings are on sale in India. Here’s what you can expect:

As Maruti will be launching the next-gen Brezza this year, so will Toyota with the Urban Cruiser. Leaked spy shots of the Brezza show that the SUV’s silhouette is similar to the current SUV, however, the front and rear fascia has been heavily reworked. Also, the SUV’s cabin will get a new floating touchscreen infotainment system and a sunroof.

The 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine, paired with the 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter, is likely to be unchanged. However, we hope Maruti replaces the ancient torque converter with something more sophisticated.

The Toyota sibling is likely to get restyled elements for its unique identity over the Brezza. The SUV will renew its rivalry with the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger

Facelifted Glanza

Considering that the existing Glanza gets miniscule design changes over the Baleno, the same is expected once the updated hatch breaks cover. The main highlight will be its interior as the Baleno gets a heavily revised cabin with a new floating touchscreen infotainment system. Also, the hatch could get new features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and connected car tech.

No changes are expected under the hood, so the Glanza should continue with the 83PS 1.2-litre and 90PS 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engines. A 5-speed manual is offered as standard while the standard petrol engine can be specced with a CVT.

These updates could result in a minor premium over the existing Glanza, which is priced from Rs 7.49 lakh. The hatch will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and the upcoming facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno
