Remember the Royal Enfield Continental GT 535? The cafe racer gave the Royal Enfield brand image a tinge of sportiness and later also paved the way for the Continental GT 650. While the GT 535 was eventually axed, Enfield’s new investor presentation suggests a single-cylinder motorcycle is on the cards and it could possibly be called the Continental GT 450.
The cafe-racer is seen sporting a retro-racer theme much like the Continental GT 650 race bikes and a bubble half fairing should give it a rather cool look. Behind the facade of the retro-style bodywork, it will be thoroughly modern underneath as the bike will be powered by the upcoming 450cc, liquid-cooled engine we’ve seen on the yet-to-be unveiled Himalayan 450. Expect roughly 40PS from the motor, which is a sizable 10PS more than the GT 535 which at the time made roughly 29PS.
While not much is known about the motorcycle, we can expect hardware like a USD front fork as seen on the Himalayan 450 and possibly adjustable twin rear shocks too. We can expect to see this motorcycle launched sometime in November 2025 and be priced at Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
There are no cafe racers in the sub-500cc space at the moment, and this should give Royal Enfield the first mover advantage once the bike is launched in time and before the competition can act. The only other alternative will be the more affordable Husqvarna Vitpilen 250.
