The 2022 ZS EV will get a rear centre armrest, a head rest for the middle occupants, and most importantly, rear AC vents. All of these creature comforts were omitted in the existing ZS EV. The dashboard has been overhauled and the design now in-tune with the Astor, with important additions like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver’s display.

Spy pictures also revealed the fact that the EV will get Astor-like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control,  lane-keep/departure assist, and blind spot detection. It remains to be seen if the AI bot will make its presence felt in the electric SUV.

The ZS EV will be powered by the same 143PS electric motor. However, the battery pack could be updated to a larger 51kWh unit from the existing 44kWh one. If MG updates the battery pack, the claimed range of 419km could see an increase as well. Internationally, there is an option of a larger 72kWh battery pack as well.

Considering the amount of upgrades made, the 2022 ZS EV will command a premium over the existing model, priced at Rs 21.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Kona Electric and the upcoming longer-range Tata Nexon EV.
