Tata Motors has been testing the Sierra for a while now, and there is some good news if you were waiting for it. The carmaker will be launching the SUV in petrol and diesel avatars in November. The compact SUV which will slot in the popular compact SUV segment will get a retro-cool design theme inspired by the original Tata Sierra from the 90s. Here is all we know about the new 2025 Sierra:
The exterior design of the Sierra follows a retro-cool theme with some iconic and modern design touches. The front fascia features a bold and sophisticated black grille flanked on either side with smoked split headlamps and a connected LED light bar that merges with the DRLs. Lower down, it features gloss black cladding and a faux silver skid plate for a subtle, yet aggressive appearance.
Move on towards the side profile, and the first thing you notice is the unique black roof insert that mimics the old Sierra’s iconic curved window design. You also get squared-off wheel arches with gloss black cladding and flush door handles to bring some modern touches to the retro-inspired look.

Towards the rear end, the Sierra gets an almost-flat profile with a minimalistic theme. You also get slim connected LED tail lamps running across the width of the car. Below this you get a bumper with cuts and creases and a gloss black insert for a rugged look. You may also note that Tata has received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for the design of the Sierra.

While Tata is yet to reveal the production-spec interior of the Sierra, it is safe to assume that it will have a modern and classy look. Recent test mules have confirmed that it will get a tri-screen setup on the dashboard consisting of the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and an entertainment screen for the passenger as well. In fact, the latter two screens will be a size larger than the digital driver’s display. Other highlights include the presence of a 4-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo and presence of dual-zone climate control.

Equipment-wise, Tata is likely to equip the Sierra with features such as a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charger, drive modes, and a premium sound system.
It could also get safety features such as a Level 2 ADAS suite, 7 airbags, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, 360 degree camera, electronic stability control, auto-dimming inside rear view mirror and hill hold assist.
Under the hood, the Sierra is expected to be powered by a brand-new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both engines are expected to get manual and automatic transmission options to cater to a wider range of buyers. Here are the expected specifications of these powertrains:

Notably, Tata is also preparing a fully-electric Sierra EV for a launch, which is expected to come some time after the ICE version.
While we await an exact official date for launch, our reports indicate that the Sierra could be launched as soon as next month. Tata is likely to price the Sierra between Rs 15 to Rs 25 lakh(ex-showroom).
The Tata Sierra will enter the hotly-contested compact SUV segment going up against competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate and its own sibling, the Tata Curvv.
The Sierra has been a much-anticipated product ever since Tata Motors revealed their plans to develop it. With an immense cult following and nostalgia for the original Sierra, hopes and expectations are high. From what we know so far, the Sierra looks like a complete package for everyone. But will it live up to the hype? We have to wait and watch.
