At the unveiling of the Citroen Basalt, the French carmaker showcased the updated version of the C3 hatchback. While there are no styling tweaks, the C3 now gets a handful of new features that has debuted with the Basalt. The updated hatchback is expected to go on sale soon and these additions wil be limited to the top-spec Shine variant.
Outside, one of the prime additions for the C3 hatchback are the LED projector headlights. Another feel good bit is the presence of the turn indicators on the ORVMs (earlier, it was on the fender). Apart from this, there have been no changes made to the exterior of the car.

Inside, the C3 now gets an automatic climate control unit and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Also, Citroen has updated the key of the car, which now looks more up to the times. However, in our opinion, one of the biggest update is the presence of six airbags, strengthening the safety quotient of the hatchback.

We are also happy that the digital driver’s display is now a larger 7-inch unit, which displays more information and has the tachometer.

That said, we feel Citroen should have also added bits such as rear headrests, cruise control and a wireless phone charger, which would have made the package more complete.
Other features such as a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted audio controls, power windows, electronic stability control and hill start assist have all been retained.

The Citroen C3 is offered with a choice of two engine options: a 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol. These engines come mated to a 5-speed and 6-speed manual transmission, respectively.

Since this update is mainly for the top-spec Shine variant, prices for this only could be affected. We expect a small over the top-end model, which is priced from Rs 7.8 lakh for the NA petrol and Rs 9 lakh for the turbo-petrol option. These feature additions definitely makes it a more contending rival to the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Punch.
