With the Renault Duster once again touching our shores after close to 4 years, we now see an all-new avatar of the iconic SUV, through which the carmaker aims to rejuvenate its India operations. Seeing how important of a product it is, Renault has given it major upgrades in every area, including under the hood, with an extensive powertrain lineup. Curious? Take a look at the new Duster’s engine options, explained in detail:

2026 Renault Duster: 1-litre Turbo-petrol

The base powertrain of the new Duster will be the familiar 1-litre Turbo-petrol engine, codenamed the HR10, which we have also seen till now in the Kiger. While the figures may be low on paper, it comes across with a good blend of affordability and smoothness which should provide adequate performance in real life. 

Notably, this engine could see slight tweaks to the tune compared to the Kiger keeping the Duster’s larger footprint in mind. Here are the specifications of this engine option:

2026 Renault Duster: 1.3-litre Mild-hybrid Turbo-petrol

The second engine option of the Duster, and the one likely to become the mainstay of its lineup is a new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, which will also be equipped with a mild-hybrid system. 

This engine will also have an option of a dual-clutch automatic transmission with a wet clutch and e-shifter as well for added convenience, in addition to the 6-speed manual transmission. Here are its specifications:

2026 Renault Duster: 1.8-litre Strong-hybrid Turbo-petrol

The range-topper engine in the Duster, made especially for users who clock a lot of kilometres, is an all-new 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine. This engine however, will be part of the strong hybrid system additionally consisting of a 1.4 kWh battery and 2 electric motors. While Renault has not revealed other performance figures yet, it claims that in a typical usage cycle, the system will let you cover 80% of your city mileage in EV mode.

Expect more details of this engine at a later date, considering the first batch of strong-hybrid Dusters will only hit the roads towards the end of this year. Here are the specifications of this powertrain:

About The 2026 Renault Duster

Perhaps Renault’s most recognised brand in India, the Duster returns to India after a long hiatus with a brand-new design, a lot of new features and premium interiors. It’s styling imbibes the signature ‘Duster’ touches such as the muscular fenders, tall bonnet and an imposing stance while also blending in some modernity with elements like the connected LED taillamp cluster, gloss-black grille with ‘DUSTER’ lettering and 18-inch alloy wheels.

It also gets an all-new interior with a dual-screen setup, black-green upholstery and a layered dashboard design all of which come together for a more upmarket ambience compared to the global version.

The Duster’s feature list includes goodies such as a panoramic sunroof, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with Google OS, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control with air purifier, powered tailgate and ambient lighting.

Its range of safety features includes a Level 2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assist, 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.

2026 Renault Duster: Launch Date, Expected Price And Rivals

Renault India will launch the new Duster in March this year, with deliveries slated to commence soon after.

It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to 20 lakh (ex-showroom), and will go up against other compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and upcoming models like the Skoda Kushaq Facelift and the Nissan Tekton.
