Despite sitting in the entry segment, the Tiago EV shoulders the bigger cars in some aspects…

Tata Tiago EV Things We Liked

The Tata Tiago EV looks like an affordable electric hatchback aimed at city buyers, priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). But after driving it, we felt there's a lot more to like than just its price tag. It packs in great comfort, technology and style, along with a smooth driving experience. From the performance to the cabin ambience, here are five things that impressed us the most.

1. New Driver Friendly And Easy To Drive

The first thing we noticed was how approachable the Tiago EV feels from behind the wheel as the height-adjustable driver's seat makes it easy to find a comfortable driving position. One could quickly set the seat to their liking and get a clear view of the road ahead - a small thing, but it makes a huge difference, especially for new drivers.

The throttle calibration deserves special mention too. Many electric cars can feel quite eager when you press the accelerator due to instant torque, sometimes catching inexperienced drivers off guard. In the Tiago EV, power builds up gradually and predictably, making the car feel calm and easy to control in traffic.

2. Features That Feel A Segment Above

The Tiago EV gets a large 10.25-inch infotainment screen which is easy to read and makes the cabin feel more upmarket than its price suggests.

The 360-degree camera is another feature that genuinely adds value. Parking in tight spaces becomes much easier. The automatic climate control works well, and the addition of rear AC vents is something passengers will appreciate during hot summer drives. While many manufacturers reserve these features for higher segments, we appreciate the fact that Tata has rolled this down to the entry segment.

3. Ride Quality Well Suited To Handle Indian Roads

The Tiago EV’s ride quality is impressively good. Its suspension does a good job of absorbing bumps and broken patches. Driving over rough sections felt composed and controlled rather than uncomfortable.

The car also feels surprisingly mature at higher speeds. On highways, the Tiago EV remains stable and planted. Overall, the suspension is comfortable enough for daily commuting while still offering enough stability when the roads open up.

4. A Standout Stylish Design

There should be no two opinions about how stylish the new Tiago EV looks. Starting from its new pastel colour options like Dehradun Dew, Pangong Pulse and Sobo Surge to its sharp LED lighting elements help the hatchback stand out without making it look overly flashy.

While styling is always subjective, we think Tata has struck a nice balance. The car looks current, contemporary and distinctive without becoming polarising.

5. Cabin Feels More Premium Than Expected

Not just for features, the interior of the Tiago EV also seems to offer more than what you’d expect at this budget. The dashboard follows a simple and minimalistic design approach. The layout is clean, practical and easy to use. The choice of materials, especially the fabric finish on the dashboard and doors adds a more premium feel, something that is impressive to see in an entry-level electric hatchback.

ZigSays…

After spending time with the Tata Tiago EV, we came away feeling that it gets the fundamentals right while also offering a few pleasant surprises. It is easy to drive, packed with useful features, comfortable on bad roads, stylish to look at and genuinely pleasant to sit in. Most importantly, it doesn't constantly remind you that it's an affordable EV.

Instead, it feels like a well-rounded car that just happens to be electric. The recently introduced BaaS pricing model makes the Tiago EV even more accessible. So, for first time buyers and those looking to move to EVs without stretching their budget too far, the Tiago EV makes a very convincing case for itself.
