Don’t know what’s going on with the hand gesture of the Tesla employees, but they do look happy as the first Cybertruck unit gets rolled out

  • First Tesla Cybertruck unit gets rolled out of Texas
  • Initial production plans were supposed to kick off in 2021
  • Will be offered with three battery options
  • Fastest powertrain option will take it from 0-96kmph in just 2.9 seconds

Better late than never, right? Two years after its initial production plans, Tesla has finally produced the first unit of the Cybertruck. The carmaker posted a tweet with the factory members posing in front of the first unit with seemingly unique hand signals. The rollout of the first unit suggests that global deliveries will kick off in the coming weeks.

The Cybertruck was first revealed in 2019 and marked one of the most interesting debuts in recent times, with Elon Musk smashing one of the windows, which didn’t go as per expectations and whatnot. But after nearly four years and some extensive testing, it seems like the electric pickup truck is finally ready to hit the market.

Apart from the severe futuristic cyberpunk styling vibes, one of the main talking points of the Cybertruck is the powertrain options available, which are plenty and potent. A total of three battery options are available: single-motor RWD, dual-motor AWD, and triple-motor AWD – all offering varying degrees of claimed range, going up to around 800km. The fastest setup claims 2.9s for a sprint from naught to 96kmph. This is a pickup truck we’re talking about here; the times we are living in!

From its impenetrable armoured glass to its mind-boggling towing capacities to its performance and efficiency specifications, we’ve jotted down every detail you need to know about the Tesla Cybertruck in this report.

As of January 2022, Tesla had claimed it had received up to 10 lakh bookings for the electric pickup, but that number could have seen a change in either direction, given the constant delays for it and the shift in public opinion against its CEO. It remains to be seen whether Tesla will bring the Cybertruck to India or not. As it stands, we expect the Model 3 to be the first Tesla model in India. The first launch from Tesla shouldn’t be too far away, given that Tesla CEO Elon Musk cracked a deal with PM Narendra Modi just recently.
