Tata Motors has introduced the Tiago CNG and the Tigor CNG with 5-speed AMT.
Paired with the current 86 PS 1.2-litre NA petrol engine which produces 73.5 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode.
Both the models come with the carmaker's twin-cylinder technology.
Prices for the Tiago CNG AMT starts from Rs 7.90 lakh while that of the Tigor CNG AMT starts from Rs 8.85 lakh.
After releasing a few teasers and opening bookings, Tata Motors has launched the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG with the option of an automatic gearbox. Prices for the Tiago CNG AMT start from Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while those for the Tigor CNG AMT start from Rs 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Both these models are the first in our market to offer the choice of automatic transmission with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

The Tiago CNG is offered in three variants: XT, XZ+, and XZ NRG. All three variants command a premium of Rs 55,000 over their respective manual transmission counterparts. Additionally, you can also have the XZ+ variant with dual-tone exterior shade option. That said, the base and entry-level CNG variants of the Tiago and Tiago NRG still come with only the manual gearbox.

As for the Tigor CNG, Tata is offering AMT with its two top-spec variants: the XZ and the XZ+, which are priced Rs 60,000 higher than their manual transmission variants. The sedan’s base-spec CNG variant doesn’t get the choice of the automatic transmission.

Both the Tiago CNG AMT and the Tigor CNG AMT come equipped with the current 86 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which puts out 73.5 PS and 95 Nm when switched to CNG mode. Both the models are offered with 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) along with 5-speed manual transmission. Tata also claims both the CNG cars deliver fuel efficiency of 28.06 km/kg.
Both the models get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, an 8-speaker Harman sound system, Type-C fast charging ports, a rear defogger, and automatic climate control. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a rear parking camera with sensors.
The CNG automatic variants of the hatchback and sedan don’t have any direct rivals in the market. That said, the Tiago CNG takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG, Wagon R CNG and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG, while the Tigor CNG locks horns with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG and the Hyundai Aura CNG.
