The compact SUV gets four variants to choose from: Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp

 

MG Motor India has finally revealed the introductory prices of its latest offering, the Astor, starting from Rs 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The compact SUV is offered in four variants: Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp. So what does each of these variants have to offer? We take a detailed look in this report:

 

Style 

Price : Rs 9.78 lakh

Powertrain: 1.5-litre NA Petrol MT

We kick things off with the most barebones variant in the Astor lineup. Despite being the base variant, the ‘Style’ is decently specced with features like:

 

  • LED headlights with LED DRLs.

  • 16-inch steel wheel cover.

  • 3.5-inch multi-info display.

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

  • Auto AC with PM 2.5 air filter.

  • Three steering modes.

  • Dual airbags.

  • ABS with EBD + Brake assist.

  • Disc brakes on all four wheels.

  • ESP + traction control.

  • Rear parking sensors.

  • Height adjustable driver seat.

  • Rear defogger and fog lamp.

  • ISOFIX child seat anchors. 

  • Remote keyless entry with foldable key.

 

Super

Price: Rs 11.28 lakh (MT)/ Rs 12.68 lakh (CVT) 

Powertrain: 1.5-litre NA Petrol MT/CVT

The ‘Super’ variant gets all the kit from the base ‘Style’ and adds more features as well as a 8-step CVT automatic transmission option. Key features include:

 

  • 17-inch silver alloy wheels.

  • Reverse parking camera.

  • Front fog lamps with cornering assist.

  • Electronic parking brake with auto-hold (CVT).

  • LED interior lamp.

  • LED tail lamps.

Price: Rs 12.98 lakh (MT), Rs 14.18 lakh(CVT), Rs 15.88 lakh (1.3-litre turbo-petrol AT)

Powertrain: 1.5-litre NA Petrol MT/CVT, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol AT 

A step below the top-spec ‘Sharp,’ this variant focuses more on cool tech additions, and is also the starting point of the  1.3-litre turbo-petrol option, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It get equipment such as:

 

  • Personal AI Assistant robot.

  • Heated ORVMs.

  • 7-inch digital driver display.

  • i-Smart connected car technology.

  • Digital car key via Bluetooth.

  • Push-button start/stop.

  • Side airbag.

  • Perforated leather seat upholstery.

  • Cruise control.

  • Auto headlamps.

  • Tyre pressure monitoring system.

  • Tuxedo Black interior theme (1.3-litre turbo-petrol)

Powertrain: 1.5-litre NA Petrol MT/CVT, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol AT

 

The creme de la creme of the Astor lineup is of course loaded with all the bells and whistles, including:

 

  • Dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

  • Rear-drive assist.

  • Red brake calipers (1.3-litre turbo-petrol).

  • 17-inch turbine-inspired alloy wheel design (1.3-litre turbo-petrol).

  • 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

  • Curtain airbag.

  • 360-degree camera.

  • 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

  • Rain-sensing wipers.

  • Blind-spot detection.

  • Lane change assist.

  • Rear cross traffic alert.

Another interesting bit about the top-spec Astor is that the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keeping/departure assist are offered as an optional pack. It can be specced with the 1.5-litre CVT and the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol AT options. 

Speaking of powertrains, the Astor’s naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine makes 110PS and 144Nm while the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol mill puts out 140PS and 220Nm.  Check out our first drive review for our first impressions of the Astor.
