With Honda having just launched the facelifted City today, Hyundai, which is hard at work producing the next-generation Verna, has reacted by releasing a teaser of the same. The latest promo video gives us a glimpse of certain production-spec design touches and for the first time, its cabin. The wraps of the upcoming sedan will be removed on March 21, while pre-launch bookings are underway.
Hyundai’s next-generation sedan, whose rear cabin has been teased for first time, seems to be devoid of an Achilles’ heel of the outgoing model: space, thanks to the 70mm longer wheelbase. It also gets amenities like rear AC vents, a Bose sound system and a charging port. How it fares on comfort is something we can answer once we get our hands on it, so stay tuned. The sedan also boasts a 528-litre boot, which is segment leading, beating the Virtus by a smidgen.
Plus, the 2023 Verna is now a size larger than the outgoing model. Take a look at the size comparison between the new and the outgoing car:

Hyundai has also given us a glimpse of the production-ready exterior design and most of the design elements stay true to the design sketch. It gets a large parametric front grille with a DRL spanning the width of the entire front end. Even at the rear, the connected fang-like tail lamps dial up the premiumness of the sedan. You can take a look at the uncamouflaged image of the production model here.
The upcoming sedan will also boast the carmaker’s new 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, making it the most powerful model in its segment. This engine is teamed with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT. There will also be a 115PS 1.5-litre petrol engine that can be had with either a six-speed MT or a CVT. No diesel engine will be on offer.
