Growing up, as kids, most of us loved fire engines didn't we? There is a certain charm about those red trucks with sirens and bells, driven by real men - heroes going out to save others from a calamity. But what if you needed a fire engine for a place like the Nurburgring - one of the most brutal race tracks (if you can call it that) in the world where car makers take their latest creations to put them through their paces - a place which is notorious for its difficult corners and tricky surfaces, a place ominously known as 'the Green Hell' where accidents are rampant and at times, even death looms around the corner.
But of course, one can't fight fires by just going fast and looking good. So for this specific task, the Nurburgring Rapid Response Nissan GT-R comes with large tank full of fire-retardant foam in place of the back seats. This tank connects to a fire hose in the boot that also houses other fire-fighting equipment. And don't think for one minute that the GT-R has been watered down thanks to all this additional equipment. A full roll cage and Recaro racing seats mean that this car can still hustle its way around the 'Ring in a mighty hurry. Now if only it came painted in red and with a Dalmatian wearing a fire helmet as a mascot...
