Aside from a two-wheel drivetrain, it also borrows the Fortuner's all-wheel-drive setup. Expect the 150PS 2.4-litre diesel engine to make it to the India-spec Hilux.

That being said, you might want to take this news with a pinch of salt, as we reached out to Toyota for confirmation on these plans, but the carmaker declined to comment on it. Since it’ll be locally manufactured, it could be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, which is priced from Rs 19.98 lakh to Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
