Ahead of its global debut on November 10, Toyota Thailand has revealed a teaser for the new Hilux, giving us a sneak peek into what it could be styled like. Notably, the upcoming next-generation Fortuner will also be based on the new Hilux and is likely to borrow many design elements from it as well. Let’s see what the teaser shows:
From the teaser, we can see that the new Hilux will feature refreshed styling with sleeker design elements, making it look more modern. At the front, it will get slimmer LED headlamps with unique C-shaped DRL signatures and a new grille with ‘Toyota’ lettering instead of the logo that the present Hilux bears. Besides this, we can also see a more aggressive bumper with sharper cuts and creases and a muscular bonnet too.

Towards the side, Toyota has shown us black alloy wheels with an off-road-focused design to add to the rugged theme. At the rear, the new Hilux gets a reworked signature for the LED taillamps, while the rear windshield remains unchanged.

From the teaser, we can also see that the tailgate latch will have a ‘Hilux’ branded plastic insert too.

Under the hood, the Hilux could receive a slew of powertrain options, although for the Indian market, it is likely to borrow the Fortuner Neo Drive’s 2.8-litre diesel engine with mild-hybrid technology. It is likely to be paired to 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options and could also come with a 4x4 drivetrain option with locking differentials. Here is the specification of the Fortuner Neo Drive’s powertrain:
|
Engine |
2.8-litre mild-hybrid diesel |
|
Transmission |
6-speed manual/6-speed torque converter automatic |
|
Power (PS) |
204 PS |
|
Torque (Nm) |
500 Nm |

Toyota will take the wraps off the new Hilux on November 10 at the 2025 Thailand Motor Expo. While it is expected to go on sale globally in mid-2026, an India launch could take place in 2027. In terms of pricing, it could be priced in the range of Rs 35 to Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of rivals, it is likely to compete with other lifestyle pickup trucks such as the Isuzu V-Cross and the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck.

The Hilux is one of Toyota’s strongest brands globally, and with the current model being over 10 years old, it was in dire need of an update. Now that the new generation is being unveiled soon, we wish Toyota would bring it to India soon, given the lack of options in the lifestyle pickup space in our market.
