  • The production version of the 45X  will debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month.

  • Will be the first car to be built on the AlfaARC platform.

  • Will be a premium hatch and go up against the Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz.

  • Likely to get the same powertrains as the Tata Nexon.

Tata Motors has confirmed through its YouTube channel that it will be debuting the production version of the 45X at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month. It will be one among the four cars that Tata intends to display at the premiere auto show. You can read more about the 45X here.

The 45X has been spied quite frequently of late and the images suggest that it will be a sizeable car for its segment. So expect it to be quite spacious as well. Holding the recently launched Harrier as an example, we can safely assume that it will be a looker as it is also based on the Impact 2.0 design language. The 45X is likely to share its powertrain with the Nexon, which is currently powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 110PS of power and 170Nm of peak torque and a 1.5-litre diesel motor that churns out 110PS and 260Nm. Both engines are available with 6-speed manual and AMT gearboxes.

The cabin, on the other hand, will feature a floating touchscreen system like on the Nexon and a minimalistic dashboard layout. The instrument cluster will be borrowed from the Harrier and will feature a TFT screen in conjunction with an analogue speedometer. In terms of safety, the production version 45X will offer dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard to carry on the safety legacy started by the Nexon. Tata is also expected to announce the name of the car at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show as well.

We had also reported earlier that the production version of the 45X will likely be launched soon after its debut at Geneva. So expect it to go on sale anywhere between May and June. When launched, the Tata hatch will go up against the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
