Renault Kwid: 1.5 Lakh Units Booked

Renault has increased the production rate of its new entry-level hatchback, the Renault Kwid, in order to meet the growing demands of customers. In the Indian market, 1.5 lakh units of the Kwid have been booked since its launch. Its production has witnessed a hike of 10,000 units compared to the previous figure. Even in the international markets its demand has risen. 

Courtesy the success of this mini SUV, Renault India increased its overall market share by 2.3 points, which has now hiked and reached at 3.8 per cent. The sales figures of Renault have registered a growth of 38.2 per cent in the first six months of 2016 as compared to the previous year, all thanks to the Kwid. The current figures stand at 2,08,690 units.

Commenting on the Kwid’s remarkable figures, the company in a statement said, "In India, the Kwid enjoyed further success, with 1,50,000 orders since its launch, lifting its market share by 2.3 points to 3.8 per cent. This strength, coupled with strong momentum of the group within markets such as India, Turkey, Argentina and Iran, allowed the group to grow its market share in each region."

Thierry Koskas, executive vice-president (sales and marketing) and Renault Group executive committee member, said, "Our market share grew across all regions, with particularly strong momentum in Europe and the Africa Middle-East India area."

Last year, the Renault Kwid sold 13,82,122 units, and this year it has reached a 15,67,720 units mark, worldwide. This increased the sales graph by 13.4 per cent.
