Renault’s Debut Sub-4M SUV Has A Launch Date

Just a day after commencing series production, Renault India has announced that the Kiger will be launched on February 15. It was earlier anticipated to reach showrooms in March.

Marking Renault's foray into the hotly contested sub-4 metre SUV segment, the Kiger will go against the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon among others.

Renault is yet to reveal the Kiger’s variants but based on the images, we know the top-end model is the RXZ. It will come with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, a 7-inch coloured digital driver’s display, an Arkamys sound system, and keyless entry with push-button start.

Safety is taken care of by four airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors with a camera, and ABS with EBD. While it gets two extra airbags over the Magnite, the Kiger misses out on essentials such as cruise control and sunroof. Wireless phone charger and a Philips PM 2.5 AC filter are optional extras.

The Kiger can be had in blue, red, brown, silver, white, and grey. It will also be offered with a dual-tone colour scheme with a black roof.

The Kiger will come with two 1.0-litre petrol units, with both motors being offered with manual and automatic transmissions. Here are the detailed specifications:
