QUICK HIGHLIGHTS
Renault to launch CNG variants of the Kiger and Triber next month.
Powertrain specifications not yet confirmed but expected to be paired with 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Likely to get features such as 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6-speaker sound system, and keyless entry with push button start stop.
Prices for both Kiger CNG and Triber CNG expected to start from Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom).
Just a few days back, Renault updated the Kiger and Triber with model year updates for the year 2025.
Up until now, Renault's offerings have been known for their aggressive pricing, yet they have not gained much traction in sales. However, this could change as Renault plans to launch CNG variants of the Kiger SUV and Triber MPV in March. This will mark the brand's first factory-fitted CNG models.
This move could make the Kiger and Triber more appealing, especially to budget-oriented consumers, and here’s what you can expect from Renault's CNG lineup.
While there is no official word on the powertrain specifications for the Kiger CNG and Triber CNG, Renault is expected to offer the factory-fitted CNG kit with the 72 PS 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Currently, this engine is available in both models with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. However, the CNG variants of both Kiger and Triber, are likely to be offered with only 5-speed manual transmission.
Recently, both the Kiger and Triber received model-year updates that made their engine options E20 fuel-compliant, along with the addition of a few convenience features in lower-spec variants. The update also made the Kiger the most affordable SUV in its segment to be offered with a turbo-petrol automatic gearbox combo.
Both the top-spec Kiger CNG and Triber CNG are expected to come equipped with features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 6-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
On the safety front, the CNG variants of both models are expected to feature four airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera with sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
You can expect a notable premium for the CNG variants of the Kiger and Triber over their equivalent petrol-powered versions. For context, the 2025 Kiger starts from Rs 6.10 lakh and goes up to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), while the 2025 Triber is priced between Rs 6.10 lakh and Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once introduced, the Kiger CNG will rival the likes of the CNG variants of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Tata Punch, and Hyundai Exter. While the Triber CNG will serve as an alternative to CNG variants of the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6 and Toyota Rumion.
