Honda has taken the wraps off its India-bound Accord Hybrid in Thailand. The Japanese carmaker unveiled the latest iteration of its popular sedan earlier this year at the 2016 Auto Expo in India.

The Accord Hybrid sports a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit that pumps 140PS of power. Combined with a 1.3kW Lithium ion battery, the car produces maximum power output of 215PS. The engine comes mated to an e-CVT which Honda claims to be faster and more efficient. The new Accord Hybrid also comes with different driving modes – EV or pure electric mode, Hybrid Drive or Engine Drive mode. In pure electric or EV mode, the Accord Hybrid can attain a top speed of 120kmph.

Under normal conditions, the Accord Hybrid operates in Hybrid Drive using the petrol powerplant as the primary power generator, while also supplying power to the batteries. The Accord Hybrid can also be driven on electric power or gasoline power only. Honda claims an efficiency of 23.8kmpl.

In the looks department, the Accord Hybrid looks identical to the one sold internationally. Up front it sports a bold chrome grille that is typical of the Honda brand now. The sleek headlamps, DRLs and tail lamps get a mild blue tinge. The multi-spoke alloy wheels give the profile an upmarket look.

On the inside, the Accord Hybrid’s dashboard is washed in black with faux wood accents. It comes fitted with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electrically height adjustable seats, climate control and more.

The Honda Accord Hybrid is expected to come to Indian shores around the festive season this year. When launched it will compete against the likes of the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Skoda Superb and the soon to be launched Volkswagen Passat.
