BMW is yet to officially reveal its next generation 7 Series but pictures of the new car completely undisguised have surfaced on Facebook. BMW’s pinnacle of luxury in all its underwhelming glory isn’t as radical as the concept after all, if these pictures are anything to go by. It’s more of an evolutionary approach much like what the 6 Series looks like, only bigger more luxurious. The 7 Series however will boast of the best and most extensive use of top of the line interior materials and equipment so you may not be disappointed after all.
When it comes to flagship models, the rumour mills work overtime about the kit they will be carrying and the 7 Series gets its fair share. There’s plenty of hearsay about laser lights being an optional extra while LEDs coming as stock fitment, a massive full panoramic sunroof on the top spec trim dubbed ‘Sky lounge’ also making it to the optional list and a cabin that replaces most of the plastic bits with aluminium.

Engine options too are unconfirmed but expect everything from 4-cylinders to 12 to make the cut like the outgoing model. Going by the amount of turbocharging dependence though, the capacities could be downsized to get the cars a better carbon rating and lower tax bracket for European customers. Expect power ratings between 250PS to 600PS for the petrol powered 7 and 275PS to 400PS for the diesels. The 7 Series will also get a long wheelbase version like the current car and expect India to get the LWB.
As far as the time and location of the official unveil is concerned, there’s no announcement yet. It will however come in the second half of this year, most likely at the Frankfurt show. Expect India to get the 7 by the end of the year or early next year.
