The 7 Series sedan from BMW is a luxurious vehicle packed with tons of cutting edge technology. At the ongoing New York International Motor Show, the BMW 7 Series has been awarded the 2016 Luxury Car of the Year title. The jury consist of 73 motoring journalists from all over the globe who cast their votes to choose the BMW 7 Series for the title.

The 7 Series is the flagship model of the German manufacturer and sets an example of the best comforts and technologies the brand has to offer to its buyers. BMW has made the use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the body structure of the vehicle which has helped to shed weight and at the same time improved torsional strength and stiffness of the chassis. The car is equipped with other unique features like Gesture Control, Remote Control Parking, BMW Display Key, BMW Touch Command System, Wireless Charging and Sky Lounge. The flagship model also has the option to be equipped with the BMW Laserlight units that are seen on the i8 hybrid supercar.

The interiors of the 7 Series take the comfort levels to a different level. The driving cockpit of the car delivers driving pleasure while the rear seats provide a modern and plush luxurious ambiance. The luxury car features chrome buttons on the multi-functional steering wheel, a touchscreen surface for the control panel of the optional 4-zone automatic air-conditioning system.
“We are delighted and honored that the BMW 7 Series has been recognized as the World Luxury Car of the Year,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management, BMW AG. “Since it launched last autumn, the response from both the media and our customers has been extremely positive, with people especially appreciative of the way the 7 Series combines superb modern luxury with the outstanding driving dynamics BMW is famous for. With its many technical innovations, including gesture control and laser lights, there can be no doubt that the new BMW 7 Series is an outstanding flagship for the brand, setting new standards in its class.”

In India, the BMW 7 Series has been launched with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine produces 268PS of power and 620Nm of peak torque while the 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine is capable of offering 456PS of maximum power and 650Nm of torque. Both the variants come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Depending upon the variant selected, the 7 Series is offered in RWD and AWD options.
