German automaker BMW's India website has just been updated. The update comes in the form of the addition of a 7-Series model. The new car is 740Li Design Pure Excellence Signature. This new model is the new base 7-Series petrol variant and is a locally-assembled model as per the website. You would have to shell out Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) to buy one. Another thing to note about this model is that it is the only petrol variant to be assembled locally. The rest come to India via CBU route.

If we talk about the engine and other mechanical bits, the 740Li Design Pure Excellence Signature comes with a 3.0-litre, turbocharged, inline-six cylinder engine that makes 326PS of power and 450Nm torque. This engine has been mated to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. It comes with air suspension system as standard. This car can sprint to 100kmph from a standstill in just 5.6 seconds. The important mechanical features on the 740Li Design Pure Excellence Signature include dynamic damper control with infinite and independent damping, auto start-stop, active air stream kidney grille, brake energy regeneration, and carbon core construction. The car can return a fuel economy of 12.5 km/l.

As a part of the Design Pure Excellence package, the car gets cosmetic stuff like chrome kidney grille with grey struts, chrome on rear bumper, chrome-finished exhaust tips, and black brake calipers with BMW logo. On the inside, the 740Li Design Pure Excellence Signature gets features such as airbags for front and rear passengers and side airbags, electrically-operated sunblinds, sky lounge sunroof, and ventilated front and rear seats with massage function. The 740 Li Design Pure Excellence Signature can be had in Black Sapphire, Cashmere Silver, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, and Mineral White colour schemes. The interior can be had in dual-tone Nappa leather. Other features such as BMW iDrive with two screens for rear seats with independent operation for both are also on offer.
