The all-new Discover will pack in some first-in-class features

After having showcased the next-generation Pulsar, Bajaj Auto is ready to launch an all-new Discover loaded with never-before-seen features in its segment. Our guess is that it will ply in the 125cc segment offering premium styling and high-end technologies that have only been found on sporty premium offerings in the market. Spy pictures of the new Discover have been floating on the internet for a while and going by these images, it is clear that the most striking change on the new Discover 125 is the inclusion of a gas-filled monoshock suspension on the rear – a first in the 125cc segment. The styling is sportier with an aggressive bikini fairing which houses a powerful headlight. The fuel tank is neatly crafted and dons sleekly designed tank shrouds that add to the motorcycle’s sporty makeup.

A norm these days, the new Discover, too, boasts a digital console with an analogue tachometer, clear lens indicators, and an LED tail-light. Stopping power comes from a 200mm disc brake upfront, complete with a small protection shroud, as found on the earlier Discover while on the rear there is 130mm drum brake serving the braking purpose. The 17-inch alloy wheels on the new Discover also get revised styling and look more upmarket than before. The saddle is long and cushy while the grab rail is redesigned to offer better grip to the pillion rider. It is still uncertain what engine will be powering the new Discover, but the possibility of an all-new engine cannot be denied. Whether Bajaj Auto will discontinue the existing Discover 125 and replace it with the new premium model or run both the offerings alongside each other is not known. The new Bajaj Discover sure looks set to take on its rivals, primarily the Honda siblings – the 125cc segment-leading Honda Shine and the sportier Honda Stunner, both of which have been amassing sizable numbers in the segment. The 125cc wars are back again and looks like its bigger than ever before!
